Young Nevele R trotting sire Continentalman has wracked up his third stakes winner in recent months, this time in the form of 4yo pacing mare Mystic Mink, a determined winner of the Group 3 North Island Breeders Stakes last Friday at Alexandra Park.

The Maurice McKendry trained and driven mare began well, hunting up to take the lead from the gate before handing up to the well fancied Everlaughing Life and from then on enjoying the perfect trip in the trail. Once clear in the straight Mystic Mink fought resolutely to hold out the pace-making Everlaughing Life and the fast finishing Top Tempo.

It was the mare’s third win for the season and fifth overall lifetime win, taking her earnings close to the $60,000 mark.

She is the last foal of the un-raced Lordship mare Black Mink.

It’s been a good couple of last months for Continentalman with Friday’s Group 3 victory following on from Castletonian taking out the Group 2 NRM Sires’ Stakes 2yo Trotters Championship earlier in the month and De Gaulle winning the Listed PGG Wrightson NZ Sales Series 3yo Trotters Final back in March.
