Last season’s Victorian Derby winner Tanabi Bromac warmed up for this week’s Group 1 Golden Nugget with a commanding performance at Gloucester Park on Friday evening, streeting his rivals by almost six lengths on his West Australian debut.
The 4yo son of Live Or Die bided his time at the rear of the field in the early stages of the 2,130m race before moving up to sit outside the leader with 500m to go, then simply distanced the field in the straight, running the last mile in a slick 1:58.1.
It was the 12th win of the gelding’s career, with his earnings now sitting at $225,000.
Bred and owned by Nevele R Stud founder Bob McArdle, Tanabi Bromac is the first foal of the Village Jasper mare Tanabi.
The 4yo Live Or Die former kiwi Phlying Pharoah also won on the evening with the gelding recording his 7th career win in the second on the card.
It was a good weekend for Live Or Die back in NZ too with Jovial Lustre, Livin In Heaven, Rosanna Jaccka, Rosie Malone and Stormy Seas all recording victories over the weekend.
