Second season Nevele R sire Red River Hanover had a couple of smart performers over the weekend with Roll On Red River scoring at Alexandra Park on Friday and Let The Rivers Run at Waimate yesterday afternoon.
Roll On Red River’s win was particularly tough with the gelding leading throughout the 2200m race and holding off all comers in the straight to score by a neck.
It was the Ray Green trained gelding’s third win after winning two in a row as a 2yo at the end of last season.
Out of the Fitch II mare Miss Fitch, Roll On Red River is a half to the Group 1 placed Jeremys Gambit filly Queens Gambit
Let The Rivers Run was then a dominant winner at just his second start on Sunday at Waimate, crossing the line a length clear of Bold Jester and the race favourite Tyneholm.
Bred and trained by Lindsay Kerslake and his wife Jan, Let The Rivers Run is out of the Hilarious Way mare Bionic Sound.
Let The Rivers Run was Red River Hanover’s fifth individual NZ winner this season. To date he is the sire of almost 70 Australasian bred qualifiers and 13 winners, including the talented types Garnet River and Runaway Red.
