Gammel Dansk claims SA Trotters Cup

Former Canterbury trotter Gammel Dansk continued his great run of form across the Tasman with victory in the Group 3 South Australia Trotters Cup at Globe Derby on Saturday evening.

After leading for the majority of the 2,645m affair Gammel Dansk grimly withstood the challenge of race-favourite Billy Royale in the straight to score by a short-half head and record his biggest career victory to date.

The former Carl Middleton trained runner has been flying since touching down in Australia at the end of September, winning seven of his nine starts to take his overall record to nine lifetime wins and earnings of over $55,000.

The 5yo son of Continentalman is out of an unraced Sundon daughter of the good trotting mare Lilly The Pink in Another Starlet, who is also the dam of the more than useful trotter Millburn Michael.
