Sixpence scores in Graduette

The Steven Reid and Graeme Rogerson trained Sixpence put in another stunning performance at Alexandra Park on Friday evening, this time to down the previously unbeaten Lancome and claim the $30,000 PGG Wrightson NZ Yearling Sales Series Graduette for 2yo fillies.

The daughter of deceased Nevele R sire Holmes Hanover stormed home late in the 1700m affair to just nab Lancome, who looked home for all money, on the line and record her second career victory to date and an impressive mile rate of 1:58.6.

Sixpence, whose only defeat came at the hands of standout filly Gotta Go Harmony, has already banked $40,000 this season and there looks to be plenty more in store for her with the majority of the rich juvenile events still to come.

The beautifully bred filly is the sixth foal of the OK Bye mare Have A Go Franco, making her a full sister to the three-time Group 1 winning filly Threepence and a ¾ sister by blood to the former NZ 3yo Pacer of the Year Franco Heir and fellow NSW Derby winner Franco Hatrick.

Others by Holmes Hanover to win over the weekend were Partywithme at Manawatu, the debutants Hi Speed and Step On Holme, at Methven and Winton respectively, while Secondstospare also recorded his fifth career win at Winton on Sunday afternoon.
