CR Commando gelding wins Trotting Stakes
Brilliant juvenile trotter The Fiery Ginga extended his unbeaten streak to seven straight races in the $30,000 Group 3 CRT McMillans Equine Feeds NZ Trotting Stakes at Addington Raceway on Friday evening, with the talented gelding once again proving far too strong for his less experienced rivals.
The Alan Clark trained youngster displayed faultless manners, trotting straight to the lead and never looking in any danger of losing the race, kicking in the home straight to cross the line three lengths clear of his nearest rival Dreamit (Dream Vacation), with Kowhai Ford (Continentalman) back in third position.
The Fiery Ginga’s record now stands at seven wins for almost $50,000 in stakes with the promise of plenty more to come as the Harness Jewels 2YO Ruby looks to be at his mercy.
Bred by Steve Thompson the son of CR Commando is out of the winning Pine Chip mare Anreca Hest, who is incidentally a daughter of the dam of the second placegetter Dreamit, Geena Hest.
It was the second year in a row that the race was taken out by the progeny of CR Commando with Jumanji Franco victorious last year.
