CR Commando filly wins Redwood
Smart CR Commando filly Elusive Charm put in a faultless performance to take out the $50,000 Group 1 Seelite Windows and Doors Redwood Classic for 2yo Trotters at Maryborough, Victoria yesterday afternoon.
While some of the more favoured runners made mistakes early on, Elusive Charm began well from the standing start, striding straight to the lead before handing up to Continentalman gelding Im Chilled and taking a sit. With 400 to go regular reinswoman Simone Walker eased her off the markers to catch Im Chilled inside the final 100m and score by a neck. It was a Nevele R sired trifecta with the regally bred son of CR Commando and champion trotting mare La Coocaracha, Louey Louey Louey six metres back in third after being checked at the start.
It was the Bill Walker trained filly’s fourth win from 11 juvenile starts.
Elusive Charm is the second foal of the seven-win Sundon mare Sunny Folly.
The Redwood Consolation was also taken out by a Nevele R sired runner, with the 2yo Continentalman filly Abandoned Annie recording her maiden win in the event, while the Muscles Yankee gelding Let Me Thru was a game second in the Group 1 Victoria Trotters Derby later in the day.
