Rocknroll Hanover sires NJSS trifecta
Former USTA Horse of the Year Rocknroll Hanover is proving just as sensational at stud as he was on the track, siring the trifecta in the recent US$200,000 New Jersey Sires Stakes Championship for 2yo pacing colts and geldings and heading up the 2yo North American Sires List.
In the keenly contested NJSS Final at the Meadowlands last Thursday evening (US time) Rock N Roll Heaven stormed home late to chase down the previously unbeaten Blue Rock to score by two and a quarter lengths in a time of 1:54 flat. Goshen Cup winner Blue Rock held on for second while Rockin Image rounded out the trifecta for his sire.
It was Rock N Roll Heaven’s first career victory with the colt having previously recorded two placings at his only other race-day outings.
The beautifully bred colt is out of the very good Artsplace racemare Artistic Vision who won 34 races and over $630,000 during her time on the track.
Rocknroll Hanover currently leads the North American 2yo pacing sires premiership with nine juvenile winners to his credit already (plus a further 26 qualifying winners), including two $100,000 earners and eight in 1:55.
Two of the remaining three NJSS Finals were also taken out by Nevele R sired runners with the Artsplace filly One Last Kiss claiming the 2yo fillies’ pacing version and Costa Rica, a daughter of Muscles Yankee the fillies trotting final.
In other good US results, the 3yo son of Badlands Hanover, Mr Wiggles claimed a US$50,000 elimination of the Delvin Miller Adios at the Meadows in Pennsylvania, defeating Meadowlands Pace runner-up Vintage Master in a new career best time of 1:49.2.
It was the George Teague trained Mr Wiggle’s 12th career victory taking his earnings to an impressive US$573,371.
