Changeover confirmed
Champion pacer Changeover has been confirmed for Nevele R Stud’s 2010/11 Stallion Roster after passing his fertility tests at the end of March.
The outstanding son of In The Pocket and former 4yo Mare of the Year Chaangerr has settled in well at the stud’s Prebbleton property and is letting down into a magnificent individual.
The 6yo entire offers breeders the complete package with the stallion possessing both a superb race record and an impeccable pedigree.
On the track, Changeover had very few equals, winning at the highest level of racing from two years of age through to six.
As a juvenile, Changeover recorded two wins, including the Listed PGG Wrightson NZ Yearling Sales Series Open but it was as a 3yo that Changeover shone the brightest winning 14 races – the last 10 on end – in a season that saw him capture the Group 1 Northern Derby, Group 1 NZ Derby, Group 1 Australasian Breeders Crown Final and the Listed Harness Jewels Emerald. As a result of his deeds that season he was not surprisingly crowned the NZ 3YO Pacing Colt of the Year.
At 4 Changeover claimed the Group 2 Superstars Championship fresh up before going on to win the Group 1 Taylor Mile and 4YO Harness Jewels Emerald, becoming the first horse to record back to back Jewels victories.
As a 5yo, Changeover claimed Australasian racing’s biggest prize, the NZ Trotting Cup, in a breath-taking new NZ and World Record time of 3:56.4. The 2009 season also resulted in him recording his career best time of 1:53.4 when winning the Group 1 Len Smith Mile at Menangle, New South Wales.
Changeover retired as NZ’s highest stakes earning entire pacer having won 29 races and a phenomenal $2,426,765 in stakes-money. His 29 victories included 19 at Group and Listed level – 6 of these at the elite Group 1 level.
Nor does Changeover want for anything in the pedigree department. Being a son of In The Pocket he offers Australasian breeders further access to the all-conquering Direct Scooter bloodlines, whilst his Vance Hanover dam Chaangerr was a top race-mare herself and a full sister to one of NZ’s best ever pacers in Chokin – the winner of $1.8 million in stakes, two Miracle Miles, two Auckland Cups, a NZ Cup and a NZ FFA.
As a broodmare Chaangerr is following in the footsteps of her dam, 1990/91 Broodmare of the Year Nell’s Pride, having left seven winners from eight foals to race to date.
Changeover’s 2010 service fee is $4,000 plus GST.
