The progeny of Western Ideal were to the fore in the first of the big North American 3YO features run at the Meadowlands on Saturday evening (US time) with last season's champion 2yo colt Big Jim coasting to victory in the US$400,000 Anthony Abbatiello New Jersey Classic and Krispy Apple keeping her unblemished seasonal record intact with an equally dominant performance in the US$150,000 Thomas D'Altrui Miss New Jersey.

Big Jim assumed control of the New Jersey Classic by the half-way mark and simply strode away in the straight to score by two lengths from outsider High Noon and Shadyshark Hanover in a time of 1:51 flat.

It was Big Jim's eighth career win from just 12 starts with the prize-money from the New Jersey Classic pushing his earnings past the million dollar mark to $1,309,704.

Krispy Apple was an even more impressive winner in the Miss Jersey, drawing away in the straight to win by three lengths from fellow Western Ideal filly Honky Tonk Woman in a 1:50.6 mile rate.

The Mark Kesmodal trained filly has won all four of her starts in 2011 and five of her 6 lifetime starts to date for earnings of $177,450.
