One of last season’s top juveniles Scandalman kicked off his 3yo campaign on the right note at Tabcorp Park, Menangle on Saturday evening winning the Freedom Farms Pace Chokin 3YO Championship Heat II (1,609m) in a slick 1:55 mile rate.

The Live Or Die youngster was a dual Group 2 winner for trainer Ian Wilson last season and was equally impressive in his 3yo debut, rolling to the lead in the middle stages of the race and holding off the challengers in the straight to score by a half-neck from the eight-win Stanbesideme.

Scandalman has now won seven of his eight starts to date for earnings of $95,383.

He is the fifth foal of the one-win Holmes Hanover mare All In Vain.

Other Australian winners sired by Live Or Die over the weekend included Stirling Charmer and Tara Royale both a Melton on Saturday evening, along with Glenfarg at Albion Park, the full sister to Bondy in Vesper Lynd at Maryborough on Friday afternoon, San Fran Lady at Newcastle and Summa Of Dreams and Lordofthefly at Bendigo on Sunday.

Domestically it was a great weekend for Live Or Die too with Village Red making it two wins in a row at Alexandra Park on Friday, Lively GNP and Colin Edlin scoring at Addington on the same evening, and The Friendlyassassin and Winston both winning at Oamaru on Saturday.
