Millionaire Badlands Hanover pacer Washakie became the first horse ever to win three consecutive Group 1 Treuer Memorials (2,540m) on Saturday evening, with the 8yo easily accounting for his rivals in the $100,000 Grand Circuit event at Bankstown.

Millionaire Badlands Hanover pacer Washakie became the first horse ever to win three consecutive Group 1 Treuer Memorials (2,540m) on Saturday evening, with the 8yo easily accounting for his rivals in the $100,000 Grand Circuit event at Bankstown.

Despite a second row draw Washakie soon worked his way around the field to sit parked outside the second favourite Mach Wiper. The former kiwi was content to stay there until approaching the straight for the last time when he skipped away from the field to cross the line 3.1m clear of Mach Wiper and Hesa Buzzin.

It was the John McCarthy trained pacer's 40th career win, taking his earnings to in excess of $1.25 million.

The progeny of Badlands Hanover were also to the fore in the Northern Hemisphere over the weekend with his daughter No Picnic making it six wins from 10 starts when taking out the $100,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund 2YO Fillies Final at Dover Downs, whilst Flying Instructor led home a Badlands Hanover trifecta in the Colts and Geldings DSBF Final.
