Another Group 1 winner for Live Or Die
Brilliant Aussie juvenile filly Lively Moth scored what looks like potentially being the first of many Group 1 victories in her career with a stunning performance in the $100,000 Peter Sadler Transport Vicbred Super Series 2YO Fillies Final (2,240m) at Tabcorp Park, Melton on July 9.
Despite drawing awkwardly on the inside of the second line and being trapped three back on the marker pegs in a slowly run first half, regular reinsman Damian Wilson was able to extricate the talented daughter of Live Or Die off the fence with 400m to go, and once in the clear the filly flew home, reeling in dual Group 1 winning youngster Aussie Made Lombo with ease and going on to win by 1.7m.
It was the Tony Peacock trained filly's sixth win from just nine starts, taking her lifetime earnings to $119,300.
Bred by Len and Irene Parker of Victoria, Lively Moth is out of an unraced Classic Gary mare in Moody Moth.
In winning, Lively Moth became Live Or Die's 16th overall Group 1 winner and the third for the 2009/10 season, along with Hunter Cup winner Bondy and NZ Derby victor Captain Peacock.
It has been another fabulous season for Live Or Die, with the former kiwi pacer Horace Foxley crediting him with his 13th individual Australasian Group race winner this season when taking out the recent Group 2 Inox Premiers Cup Final at the Gold Coast on June 25.
Currently Australia's leading sire, Live Or Die is the sire of more than 260 individual Australasian winners so far this season and has progeny earnings of almost $5 million.
