Nevele R sires star on Hambletonian Day
One of North America's biggest Harness Racing meetings, Hambletonian Day, proved to be a great showcase for Nevele R stallions with the feature race stylishly taken out by a son of Muscles Yankee and a number of the support races at the famous Meadowlands meeting taken out by the progeny of a host of other Nevele R sires.
The US$1.5 million Hambletonian Final saw the Jimmy Takter trained Muscles Yankee colt Muscle Massive grab the favourite Lucky Chucky in the straight to claim a half length victory in 1:51 flat - the second fastest time recorded in the history of the Hambletonian, with last year's winner and another son of Muscles Yankee Muscle Hill the fastest in 1:50.2.
It was the 3yo colt's sixth career win with the stakes money swelling his lifetime earnings to US$995,192.
Both of the US$115,000 divisions of the Oliver Wendell Holmes for 3yo Pacing Colts and Geldings were taken out by sons of Nevele R stallions with Rockin Image leading home a Rocknroll Hanover trifecta in the first of the Holmes divisions and the Badlands Hanover colt Delmarvalous defeating Meadowlands Pace winner One More Laugh (McArdle) in the second, with both winners recording a slick mile rate of 1:48.4.
The win was the Badlands Hanover colt's 10th, taking his earnings to just over US$600,000, whilst it was the seventh career win of Rockin Image, increasing his lifetime prize-money to US$500,000.
It was the turn of the talented daughter of Four Starzzz Shark, Dancinwiththestarz in the US$275,000 Mistletoe Shalee Final for 3yo Pacing Fillies with the Mark Harder trained filly setting a new world record for her age group with a dominant 1:48.8 win.
Dancinwiththestarz has won 15 of her 21 starts to date for earnings of US$637,466.
