De Lovely a class above rivals
Champion kiwi filly De Lovely confirmed favouritism for this weekend's AU$188,000 Australasian Breeders Crown 3YO Fillies Final with a dominant display at Tabcorp Park, Melton on Friday evening.
Starting a short priced favourite in the second of the $20,000 3YO Fillies Semi-Finals, the brilliant daughter of Falcon Seelster worked her way to the lead in the middle stages of the 2,240m race and once in front never gave her rivals a look in, powering home in the straight to record 16.8m win over Miss Trickin Lombo and a 1:57.8 mile rate.
It was the Geoff Small trained pacer's 10th career win, taking her lifetime earnings to more than $365,000.
Bred by the Les Girls No 2 Syndicate, De Lovely is the first foal of former NZ Oaks winner Copper Beach (Beach Towel), whom also won her Breeders Crown Semi-Final in 2004.
