Group 1 double for Nevele R stallions
The Alexandra Park New Year's Eve meeting was a fantastic one for Nevele R with both Group 1 features being taken out by the progeny of Nevele R stallions.
I Can Doosit, by Muscles Yankee continued his dominance of NZ's trotting ranks with victory in the $80,000 Seelite Windows and Doors National Trot (2,700m), defeating another Nevele R sired runner in The Fiery Ginga (CR Commando).
It was the reigning Inter Dominion champion's 20th career win, with the 6yo gelding having set a new national 1609m record of 1:55.5 in the Group 2 Trotters Flying Mile at Cambridge on the 24th of December at his previous start.
I Can Doosit has now won $681,231 in stakes-money and will start an odds on favourite in the up-coming Inter Dominion Series in Victoria.
In the night's other Group 1 feature, the $156,400 Alabar Sires Stakes 3YO Fillies Championship Final, the Mark Purdon and Grant Payne trained Twist And Twirl was too classy for her rivals, running out a two and a quarter length winner over Precious Rose (Falcon Seelster).
The Artsplace filly has won three of her four starts to date and earned $114,029 in prize-money.
Both Group 1 winners were bred and raced by Breckon Bloodstock Ltd.
