I Can Doosit Harness Racing's latest millionaire
The Mark Purdon and Grant Payne trained I Can Doosit made it 11 successive wins with a sublime performance in the $200,000 Group 1 Glenferrie Farms Anzac Trotting Cup at Alexandra Park on Friday evening, completely destroying a field that featured the majority of NZ's best trotters.
The reigning Trotter of the Year was able to extricate himself off the markers early in the piece, moving up to sit parked with just under a lap to go and once in the straight the final time the 6yo simply left the others in his wake, cruising to an eight length victory over Dr Hook and Raydon.
In winning the dual Inter Dominion champ not only surpassed $1 million in earnings but also lowered Cedar Fella's NZ record for the distance by 0.3 seconds, trotting the 2,200m in 2:43.8 - a mile rate of 1:59.8.
It was I Can Doosit's 28th career win, with his share of the prize-money taking his lifetime earnings to $1,083,753.
