Always B Miki filly too good on debut in Group 2 Southern Feature

The stakes winners just keep on coming for Always B Miki, with the Brett Gray trained Miki’s Deal the latest after taking out the Group 2 Entain 2YO Fillies Southern Classic in impressive fashion on debut at Winton on Thursday afternoon.
Settling midfield on the fence through the first half, Miki’s Deal gained the one-one when Queen Lizzy, the horse in front of her pulled out and she followed suit.
Full of running approaching the home bend, Miki’s Deal peeled off Queen Lizzy’s back and sprinted home strongly to win going away by two and a quarter lengths, rating 1:55.5 for the mile.
Bred and raced by Marty and Daphne Fairbairn, Miki’s Deal is out of the four-win Bettor’s Delight mare Delightful Deal.
Another highlight at the meeting for Nevele R and it’s stallions was Captain Crunch siring the first three home in the last of the Southern Supremacy Stakes heats, with the Robert and Jenna Dunn trained Malakai downing previous heat winner Flashpoint by a head in a slick 1:54.4 mile rate, with Crunch Time rounding out the trifecta.
