Father Patrick continues to dominate 2-year-old trotting in New Zealand, with his unbeaten daughter Habibti Pat taking out the Group 3 Aldebaran Eagle 2YO Classic at Addington on Friday night and Meant To Be the Sires Stakes 2YO Prelude at Alexandra Park on the same evening.

The Greg and Nina Hope trained Habibti Pat made light work of winning the inaugural running of the juvenile feature, spearing to the lead from barrier seven and trotting flawlessly throughout she coasted to the line untouched to win by a length and a half.

Habibti Pat has now won all four of her starts to date and $56,500 in stakes.

Bred by Julie Maghzal, she is out of the Group 1 winning Love You mare Habibti Ivy.

At Alexandra Park, the equally regally bred 2-year-old Father Patrick gelding Meant To Be was a stunning winner of the Sires Stakes 2YO Prelude.

Missing the start by five lengths, Meant To Be easily worked his way around the field to lead with a lap to go and still had enough in reserve to score by a length and a half from his rivals.

Second in the Group 3 Young Guns 2YO Trot Final in May, Meant To Be has now won two races and banked $33,975 in earnings.

The Breckon Farms bred youngster is out of the NZ Oaks and Derby winning Muscle Hill mare Luby Lou.

Another of Father Patrickʻs progeny to impress over the weekend was the Craig and Aimee Edmonds trained A Fine Patrick.

The smart 3-year-old notched up his third career win with an arrogant six and a half length win at Addington.

There was also a winning double for the stallion at the Timaru meeting on Sunday, with Schoemaker and Special Effects both saluting.

Father Patrick is currently New Zealand’s leading sire of both 2-year-old and 3-year-old trotters.

In the Northern Hemisphere, Father Patrickʻs best current performer, Highland Kismet, recorded another Grand Circuit win when strolling to a four and a half length victory in his Bluegrass Stakes division at The Red Mile on Saturday (US time).

It was the 3-year-oldʻs eighth win this year and took his seasonal earnings to $667,850.

He is out of the Muscle Hill mare Highland Top Hill.
