Soho Darknstormy was a dominant winner of the Group 2 NSW Breeders Challenge Blue 2YO Colts and Geldings Final at Menangle on Saturday night, with the son of champion pacer Lazarus leading from start to finish.

The Rickie Alchin trained youngster blasted off the gate to take the lead and never gave his rivals a look in, keeping the speed on throughout.

Kicking clear with 500m to go, Soho Darknstormy comfortably kept his rivals at bay, coasting across the line almost 6m clear of the second placed Walter Warlock.

Soho Darknstormyʻs winning time of 1:52.1 was the second quickest time by a 2-year-old pacer in Australasia this season – with only the Protostar Slot Race winner Fate Awaits (by Always B Miki) having gone quicker.

The promising colt has now won both of his races since resuming from a spell in late August, and more than $68,000 in stakes in total.

Bred by Yirribee Pacing Stud, Soho Darknstormy is out of the Grinfromeartoear mare The Blue Lotus, a winning half-sister to the five-time Group 1 winner and successful sire Tintin In America.

It was almost a clean sweep of the 2-year-old Finals for Lazarus, with his daughter Our Ultimate Jane finishing runner-up in the $100,000 Fillies Final after just being pipped at the post by The Swift One earlier in the evening.
