Son of Vincent takes out Group 2 Alabar Classic

The Mark and Nathan Purdon trained Sherlock proved too good for his rivals in the Group 2 Alabar 3YO Classic at Alexandra Park on Friday evening.
Starting a short priced favourite the son of Vincent endured a tough start to the 2200m feature.
Caught three-wide early, he was forced to work hard to get to the lead but once in front was able to ease the tempo which gave him enough of a breather to hold out the challengers in the straight and score by a neck in a mile rate of 1:56.2.
It was the multiple Group 1 runner-up’s fourth career win and took his earning to $101,320.
Bred by Spreydon Lodge, Sherlock is the second foal from the American Ideal mare After Party, a full sister to the Group 1 winner Democrat Party.
He was purchased at the 2021 NZB Christchurch Yearling Sale by Jean Feiss, who raced his sire Vincent, for $67,500.
