Exciting Father Patrick filly Duchess Maria made it three stakes race victories in as many starts when an effortless winner of the Group 3 NZ 2YO Trotting Stakes at Addington on Friday night.

In what was little more than a training run for the precocious youngster, Duchess Maria went straight to the front and never looked like losing, drawing clear late to score by three and a half lengths from Who’s Ya Daddy with another five back to Redpark Warrior (Creatine).

The unbeaten Nathan Williamson trained filly has now banked $82,500 in stakes earnings.

Bred and raced by John and Katrina Price, she is out of the four-win Muscle Hill mare Maria Tsarina, making her from the same maternal family as the Inter Dominion Trotting Grand Final winner Galleons Sunset and the NZ Trotting Free For All winner Last Sunset.

There were some other eye catching front running performances by the progeny of Father Patrick over the weekend too, with the Robert and Jenna Dunn trained 3-year-old Paddy McDaddy superb in winning the Anne Thompson Trotters Graduation Final by seven and a half lengths at Rangiora on Sunday and the Tyler Dewe trained 4-year-old Lil Whip an impressive winner by eight and a quarter lengths at Invercargill on the same day.

Father Patrick currently leads New Zealand’s 2YO, 3YO and 4YO Trotting Sires Premierships and is also second on the All Age Trotting Sires Table.
