Three black type wins in a row for daughter of Vincent
Francent, by Vincent, made it three stakes wins on the bounce with another typically tough performance to take out the Group 3 Caduceus Club Northern Breeders Stakes at Alexandra Park on Friday night.
Parked throughout, the Mark Jones trained 4-year-old fought tenaciously in the straight to get the better of the dual Oaks winner Arafura in the closing stages, scoring by a neck at the line.
It was Francent’s ninth career win, with eight of them, including her last two at Group 2 level, coming this season, and took her overall earnings to $162,930. She is the highest earning mare to date in New Zealand this season.
Bred by Robert Higgins, she is out of the good producing Courage Under Fire mare Mary Niven, who has left five winners from six foals of racing age to date.
