Vincent’s red-hot run as a sire continued over the weekend, with Greased Lightnin taking out the $50,000 Listed Sires Stakes Sophomore Classic at Addington on Friday night and Surfingmakescents the Group 3 Ladyship Cup at Melton the following night.

The Barry Purdon and Scott Phelan trained Greased Lightnin flew home late from the back of the field in the 3-year-old feature race to claim Midnight Miki in the final few strides and win by a neck.

It was his seventh win from just 15 starts and took his earnings to $121,320.

Bred by Alabar NZ, Greased Lightnin is out of the In The Pocket mare Motu Racy Girl, making him a half to the Group 1 performer Ultimate Racy Girl.

He was Vincent’s third New Zealand stakes winner in the past month, with Shezsofast having won the Group 1 Caduceus Club 2YO Fillies Classic at the end of September and Francent the Group 2 Mares Spring Sprint Classic last weekend.

The Kerryn Manning trained and driven Surfingmakescents then added an Australian stakes win at Melton on Saturday night, with the 6-year-old mare leading from start to finish in the $50,000 Ladyship Cup.

The lightly raced mare has now eight races and $109,630 in stakes earnings.

Surfingmakescents is out of the Jenna’s Beach Boy mare Our Surfer Girl.
