The Craig Cross trained A Rocknroll Dance filly, No Win No Feed produced a stunningly tough performance to take out the $150,000 Group 1 NSW Breeders Challenge 3YO Fillies Final (1,609m) at Tabcorp Park Menangle on June 30.

Restrained at the start, No Win No Feed was allowed time to settle before working forward with cover and moving up to sit parked outside the leader and race favourite, Keayang Liberty with 800m to go.

The pair went stride for stride through a 27.2 third quarter before No Win No Feed gained the upper hand rounding the home turn. In an incredibly gritty performance No Win No Feed then withstood the challenge of the late closing Our Road To Mecca to take a narrow but impressive victory in a career best time of 1:52.4.

The win was the filly’s fifth overall and her second Group 1 of the season, after having won the Bathurst Gold Bracelet Final back in March. She has now banked $181,060 in stakes earnings.

Bred by Dr Reginald and Denise Walsh, No Win No Feed is out of the winning Art Major mare Designer Rose and is proving a real bargain for her owners, having sold at the 2017 Sydney APG Yearling Sale for just $10,000.

On the same day in North America, another A Rocknroll Dance filly also made the headlines, with Rockn Philly equalling the season’s record for a 3YO filly on a five-eighths of a mile track, with a 1:49.4 victory in the $50,000 Lynch Memorial Consolation at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono.

It was the stakes winning filly’s fifth lifetime win and took her earnings to $195,663.
