Always Ticking became the latest New Zealand juvenile stakes winner for Always B Miki when winning the Group 3 Leonard Memorial at Addington Raceway yesterday afternoon.

The Brett Gray trained filly, and race favourite, didn’t have an easy time of it either, with the last start Caduceus Club of Southland/Alabar Fillies Classic runner-up sitting parked for the majority of the 2,000m trip but still proving too good for her rivals, sprinting home strongly to score by three-quarters of a length from Sporty Miss.

Another daughter of Always B Miki, Always B You, finished in third position.

Always Ticking has finished first or second in all three of her race-day starts to date and has banked just over $21,000 in stakes earnings.

Bred by David and Sylvia Thompson, Always Ticking is out of the Bettor’s Delight mare Happy Ticker.

Always B Miki is currently the leading sire of 2-year-old pacers in New Zealand, with his progeny having won almost $50,000 more in stakes than the second placed stallion Art Major.
