Always B Miki sires Australian stakes race double
Returning global heavyweight Always B Miki enjoyed a stellar weekend with a slew of winners on both sides of the Tasman, including two at stakes level.
The highlight was undoubtedly Enjoy Life’s win in Saturday night’s $150,000 Group 1 Vicbred Super Series 3YO Colts and Geldings Final at Melton.
Enjoy Life, who has only been defeated once, powered home along the sprint lane to beat Cardigan Dan by a length, with his stablemate and fellow son of Always B Miki, Most Exciting, finishing third.
The talented Emma Stewart trained colt has won nine of his 10 starts and earned $150,160.
Bred by Peter Gleeson, Enjoy Life is out of the outstanding Live Or Die broodmare, Perfect Life, who has produced two Group 1 winners and three Group 2 winners from nine foals of racing age.
Enjoy Life is Always B Miki’s 18th Southern Hemisphere Group 1 winner.
The previous evening, his New Zealand-bred son Youre So Fine won the Listed Howard Porter Memorial at Gloucester Park in scintillating style.
After settling last for much of the 2536m feature, Youre So Fine advanced three-wide with cover on the final lap, swung four-wide at the top of the straight and surged home to win by half a neck.
A Group winner in New Zealand as a juvenile, Youre So Fine now has 16 wins and career earnings of $296,901.
Bred by Jordash Breeding Trust, Youre So Fine is out of the Falcon Seelster mare Syriana.
On the same night in New Zealand, Always B Miki sired a winning treble at Addington, with Lilacs Locarno, Playing With Stars and Beaudiene Always B all saluting, whilst Sammy Lincoln and Marble Arch recorded wins at Alexandra Park on Friday and Oamaru on Sunday respectively.
