Always B Miki stars shine at The Red Mile

The Red Mile at Lexington, Kentucky was a happy hunting ground for a trio of Always B Mikiʻs leading 2023 performers, with Newsroom, Sylvia Hanover and Grace Hill all victorious there in Grand Circuit races over the weekend.

The Joe Holloway trained colt Newsroom led throughout in his International Stallion Stakes division  for 2-year-old pacers at the Saturday (US time) meeting, digging deep late to repel Boston Rocks to win by a neck in 1:50.2.

It was his seventh win from eight starts and took his earnings to $228,025.

At the Kentucky Futurity meeting the next day, it was the turn of Always B Mikiʻs standout daughters, Sylvia Hanover and Grace Hill.

In a $115,000 Glen Garnsey Memorial division for 3-year-old pacing fillies, Sylvia Hanover unleashed her typical devastating finish, sprinting the last 800m in 53.4 to win going away by two lengths in a time of 1:49.8.

 It was her seventh win this year in 1:50 or quicker, and her 17th career win from just 20 starts.

She is the winner of over $1.4 million in stakes to date.

Grace Hill continued her dominance of the aged pacing mare ranks with a comfortable win in the Allerage Farms Mares Open.

It was her 29th lifetime win and saw her become Always B Mikiʻs richest offspring, with her earnings of $1,887,906 seeing her surpassing US 2YO and 3YO Pacing Colt of Year Perfect Sting for the top spot.
