For the second consecutive year, the $525,000 Shes A Great Lady Final for 2-year-old pacing fillies has been taken out by a daughter of Always B Miki, with the Shawn Steacy trained Sylvia Hanover triumphing in this year’s instalment at Woodbine Mohawk Park on September 24.

Parked through the opening quarter, Sylvia Hanover moved to the lead by the half and was able to comfortably keep the second favourite Charleston at bay in the straight to score by three quarters of a length in a time of 1:51.8.

It was Sylvia Hanover’s sixth win from seven lifetime starts and took her earnings to C$481,425.

A $135,000 Harrisburg Yearling Sale purchase, Sylvia Hanover is out of the Artiscape mare Shyaway and is a half sibling to the $2,000,000 earner Western Fame.

The 2021 running of the Shes A Great Lady was won by the Always B Miki filly Niki Hill, who went on to be crowned the US 2YO Pacing Filly of the Year.
