Bar Room Banta breaks Australasian 2YO record
The hugely promising A Rocknroll Dance colt Bar Room Banta became the fastest 2-year-old ever in Australasia with a scintillating 1:50.3 win in his NSW Breeders Challenge Semi Final at Tabcorp Park Menangle.
Despite being crossed early after blazing off the gate, Bar Room Banta quickly retook the lead and kept the speed on throughout. Showing plenty of grit to go along with his high speed he held off a determined challenge from main rival Tasty Delight in the closing stages to score by just over a metre at the line.
Bar Room Banta has now won his last four starts, all in sub 1:54 times, with his only other race-day outing a second placing on debut back in March.
Bred by Ray Cahill, Bar Room Banta is out of the four-time winning Christian Cullen mare Jerada Ace, a full sister to the Group 1 placed juvenile Cullens Ace.
