Breeders Crown Night proved a terrific showcase for Always B Miki’s exceptional debut crop of 2-year-olds, with Perfect Sting dead-heating for the win in the $600,000 Breeders Crown Final for 2YO Pacing Colts and Geldings and JK Alwaysbalady very nearly doing the same in the $600,000 2YO Pacing Fillies Final.

In an incredibly tight finish in the Colts and Geldings Final at Harrah’s Hoosier Park on Friday evening, the unbeaten Perfect Sting, whom had led from the half, refused to loose as he was assailed by challengers in the home stretch, crossing the line in unison with the hard charging Summa Cum Laude to record the first ever dead heat in Breeders Crown history.

Another multiple Grand Circuit winning son of Always B Miki, Southwind Gendry, finished third, only a head away from the winners.

Perfect Sting’s record now stands at a perfect 10 wins from 10 starts and stakes earnings of $534,300, making him the richest 2-year-old pacer in North America in 2020.

A Brittany Farms and Val D’Or Farm homebred, Perfect Sting is out of the fastest 3-year-old filly of all time, Shebestingin, a $760,000 earning daughter of Bettor’s Delight.

In the Fillies Final two races earlier, last week’s elimination winner JK Alwaysbalady went within half a stride of making it a remarkable Breeders Crown double for Always B Miki, with the Nancy Takter trained juvenile just coming up a head short at the line and having to settle for second place.

The daughter of two US Harness Horses of the Year, JK Alwaysbalady has banked just under $215,000 in her debut season to date.

Always B Miki holds a commanding lead as North America’s leading first season sire, with progeny earnings of almost $2 million for the year to date.

He is also third on the overall 2YO Pacing Sires Premiership, behind only the great Somebeachsomewhere and his powerhouse son Captaintreacherous.
