Always B Mikiʻs daughters Sylvia Hanover and Grace Hill maintained their perfect starts to 2023 with two sublime performances at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday.

Sylvia Hanover was far too good for her rivals in the $420,000 Fan Hanover Stakes.

Taking the lead by the half-way mark she drew away with each stride in the straight to win by three and three-quarter lengths in a time of 1:48.4, equalling the track, stakes and Canadian record for a 3-year-old pacing filly set by American Jewel in 2012.

The reigning US and Canadian 2YO Pacing Filly of the Year looks to have come back even better as a 3-year-old this season with three wins from three starts, and has now won 11 of 12 lifetime starts for earnings of $1,141,800.

Sylvia Hanover is out of the stakes performed Artiscape mare Shyaway.

In the $305,000 Roses Are Red Final for older pacing mares, Grace Hill was also in a league of her own with a statement performance.

Leading the field through a 53.8 opening half, Grace Hill never gave her competitors a look in, sprinting home in a 26.6 final quarter to win by two lengths.

Her winning time of 1:47.8 was a new stakes, track and Canadian record for an aged pacing mare, bettering three-time Roses Are Red winner Anndrovetteʻs 2013 record by a fifth of a second.

Unbeaten in 2023, with five wins from five starts, last yearʻs Breeders Crown winner has now won 24 races and banked $1,465,130 in prizemoney.

Regally bred, Grace Hill is out of the $1.7 million earning Western Terror mare Western Silk.
