Captain Crunch sweeps 3YO APG Sales Classic Finals

It was a terrific night for the progeny of Captain Crunch at Gloucester Park on Friday, with Its Maa Time and Captain Stirling taking out their respective $100,000 APG 3YO Sales Classic Finals in impressive fashion.
In the fillies Final, the Aiden De Campo trained and driven Its Maa Time charged home strongly out wide to score comfortably by almost two lengths.
The winner of five of her seven starts, she has now banked $86,002 in stakes-earnings.
Its Maa Time is out of the stakes winning Blissful Hall mare Maastricht.
In the colts and geldings Final, Captain Stirling was simply too strong for his rivals.
Parked through the middle stages, Captain Stirling swept to the lead early on the final lap and easily accounted for the sole challenger, Belly Up, in the home straight, crossing the finish line 5.2m clear of him, with more than 18m back to the third placed horse.
Group 1 placed as a juvenile, the Dylan Egerton-Green trained colt has now won three races and $132,665 in stakes earnings.
Bred by Steve Johnson, he is out of the Northern Luck mare, Chemical Romance, making him a half-brother to the former Group 1 3YO Westbred Classic winner Bettor Reward.
Captain Crunch’s 3-year-olds were also to the fore in New Zealand over the past week, with Flashpoint taking out the opening heat of the Alabar Southern Supremacy Series in a slick 1:55.1 at Winton on Thursday, just edging out fellow son of Captain Crunch, Captain Amore.
The following night Captain Commodore opened his 3-year-old account in style with a powerful two length win at Addington, while the classy stakes-placed filly Without You put her rivals on notice ahead of the upcoming fillies feature races with a statement six length win over the older horses at Alexandra Park.
The Brian and Gareth Hughes trained Carrera Hombre was also a winner for the young stallion at the Alexandra Park meeting.
With a fantastic start to the season on both sides of the Tasman, Captain Crunch is currently the leading sire of 3YO Pacers in both Australia and New Zealand.
