The progeny of the first season stallion Captain Crunch was highly sought after at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Standardbred Weanling Sale at Karaka yesterday, with the stallion producing the top two lots of the day and finishing the sale as the leading sire by average.

The 2018 US 2YO Pacing Colt of the Year’s top lot was a filly out of the Group placed Art Major mare Princess Arts which sold for $55,000. She is a half to this year’s multiple Group 3 winner Alta Wiseguy.

Captain Crunch’s second highest priced weanling, and the top selling colt of the sale, was a colt out of the Group 1 producing Presidential Ball mare Presidential Affair, which made $46,000. He is a half to the WA Oaks winner Maczaffair, as well as the Group 3 winner Golden State.

Both lots were consigned by Alabar NZ and purchased by Stonewall Stud.

Captain Crunch’s four lots sold for an average of $35,000 – more than five times his service fee.

It was also a very successful sale for Always B Miki, who was the second leading sire overall by average at $26,600, with a top lot of $36,000.
