With just two crops of racing age to date, Nevele R’s trotting sire Creatine is producing the goods on the track with his progeny, and is currently second on both the New Zealand 2YO and 3YO Trotting Sires Premierships.

An outstanding performer who won Grand Circuit races at every age from two through to five, including the Kentucky Futurity and a Breeders Crown Final on route to earning over $2 million in stakes, Creatine really hit his straps as a 3-year-old and older, so it is encouraging to see his Southern Hemisphere juveniles performing so well to date.

His stakes performed 2-year-olds this season include the Listed Harness Million winner Southern Diamond, recent Group 1 Breeders Crown 2YO Trotting Colts and Geldings Final place-getter Ess Kay Hollywood, the Group 1 placed filly Im A Gypsy Queen and Breeders Crown 2YO Silver Trot place-getter Shes Ruby Roo.

Other juveniles by Creatine that have caught the eye recently include the filly Walkinonsunshine, who thrashed the older horses at Addington last Monday in just her second start, and Monarch Prince who was only nabbed on the line at Addington on Sunday afternoon. Both horses will line up, along with Southern Diamond and impressive Kaikoura winner Whats Wanted, in this weekend’s Group 1 2-year-old trotting features on Grand Prix day at Addington.

As expected his stock seem to furnish into even better 3-year-olds, with three Group 1 performers from this crop to date, including the Group 1 winner More Wanted and the Northern Derby and Hambletonian Classic place-getter Hot To Trot.

Hot To Trot has developed into one of New Zealand’s top 3-year-old trotters this season and his phenomenal short course speed was again on display at Addington on Friday night when he set up a new national record (breaking his own in the process) for the 1980m trip and was only collared by Highgrove, who had sat in the trail behind him, in the last strides before the winning post.

In Australia, his 3-year-old sons More Wanted and You No Ill Be Late have both had strong seasons with More Wanted taking out the Group 1 Australasian Premier Trotting Sale Final and placing in the Group 2 VHRC Caduceus Holmfield, while You No Ill Be Late has won six of his 10 starts to date and was a last start fourth in the Victoria Trotters Derby.

Along with being one of New Zealand’s best sires of young trotters this season, Creatine is currently fourth on the Australian 3YO Trotting Sires Table (behind only Love You, Majestic Son and Father Patrick); and has an impressive strike rate of 59.5% winners to starters to date down-under.

Frozen semen is now available for Creatine in both New Zealand and Australia for a fee of NZ$3,000 + GST and AU$3,300 including GST.
