More Wanted became Creatine’s first Southern Hemisphere Group 1 winner when taking out the $50,000 Australasian Premier Trotting Sale 3YO Colts and Geldings Final (2,240m) at Tabcorp Park, Melton on Saturday night in impressive fashion.

Restrained back to last early in the race, More Wanted moved up mid-race to take the lead with a lap to go before being headed in the back straight by Hautacam through a scorching 27.7 third-quarter.

Rounding the home turn though the son of Creatine looked like he had the most left in the tank of the leading trio, with the Chris Lang youngster easily collaring Hautacam on route to a powerful 14.2m victory.

Placed in the Breeders Crown 2YO Trotting Colts and Geldings Final last year, More Wanted looks to have come back bigger and stronger at three and has now won three races and $55,800 in stakes.

Bred and raced by Richard and Pauline Matthews, More Wanted is out of the unraced Muscle Hill mare Muscle Ruby, a three-quarter sister to the six-time Group 1 winner Let Me Thru.

With his debut crop of foals, Creatine is currently second on the NZ 3YO Trotting Sires Premiership, behind only Love You, and third on the Australian 3YO Trotting Sires table behind just Love You and Father Patrick.

In good news for breeders, Nevele R will likely have frozen semen for Creatine available in both New Zealand and Australia this season, and will confirm details shortly.
