Nevele R is pleased to advise that its highly promising trotting stallion Creatine will be resuming shuttling duties this coming breeding season and will stand at the studʻs Canterbury farm.

A high class trotter that won over $2 million on the track, and a Grand Circuit winner at every age from two through to five, Creatine is off to a terrific start as a sire in the Southern Hemisphere.

With just two crops of racing age to date he has produced 12 stakes horses (eight at Group 1 level), including the Group 1 Australasian Premier Trotting Sale Final winner More Wanted, the Northern Trotting Oaks winner and Trotting Derby runner-up, Walkinonsunshine, and the Harness Million 2YO Trot winner Southern Diamond.

He is leaving good gaited and natured stock, with a will to win, as attested to by an impressive 71.4% winners to starters in New Zealand and an overall Southern Hemisphere strike rate of 64.7% winners to starters (as at 5 June).

Creatine finished the 2022 New Zealand season as the second leading sire of both 2-year-old and 3-year-old trotters and is currently second on the 4-year-old trotting sires table, and third on the 3-year-old sires table with half the number of foals as the leading stallion.

In North America, from small crops he has produced horses the calibre of Jujubee, the 2021 US Trotter of the Year and 3YO Trotting Colt of the Year, a millionaire and the only 3-year-old trotting colt in history to record multiple sub 1:50 wins, as well as the $500,000+ earning juvenile stakes winner and Hambletonian finalist Take All Comers.

Creatine will be available as fresh/chilled semen in New Zealand and via frozen semen in Australia. Discounts apply in both countries.

Creatine will join the farmʻs resident trotting stallion Marcoola, with the three-time Group 1 winning son of Sundon standing his fourth season at stud in 2023.

Frozen semen for the top North American trotting sire Father Patrick will again be available in both New Zealand and Australia, and is included in discounts this season.

He enjoyed an outstanding Southern Hemisphere season in 2022, in which he sired four individual Group 1 winners and was New Zealandʻs leading sire of 2-year-old trotters, with his freshmen progeny winning a record amount of stakesmoney and sweeping all but one of New Zealandʻs juvenile trotting features.

His oldest progeny also made their presence felt, with Mufasa Metro the standout, winning the Group 2 Breeders Crown Trotting Championship for 4-year-old male trotters and an Interdominion Heat, along with finishing runner-up to Just Believe in the Great Southern Star Final.

The coming breeding season will also see New Zealandʻs greatest modern-day pacer, Lazarus, again stand at Nevele R in Christchurch, in conjunction with Alabar.

Lazarusʻ debut Northern Hemisphere crop continues to impress, and his two-time New Jersey Sires Stakes winning son Voukefalas is one of the leading contenders for the upcoming North America Cup and Meadowlands Pace.

Other pacing stallions available in partnership with Alabar in 2023 include the superbly credentialled new stallion Pebble Beach, Always B Miki, Captain Crunch, Ultimate Machete, Ultimate Sniper and Vincent.

The 2022 US and Canadian 3YO Pacing Colt of the Year, Pebble Beach set a 1:48.8 mark at two and won the North America Cup and Breeders Crown Final at three.

He is the fastest and richest son of the emerging young sire Downbytheseaside.

Always B Miki has continued to go from strength to strength over the past 12 months with numerous stakes winners on both sides of the Tasman and is currently New Zealandʻs leading sire of juvenile pacers with six stakes performers from just eight 2-year-old starters.

Vincent has made a strong start at stud too, with 13 stakes performers from his first two crops to date including the Group 2 winners Sherlock, Vinke B and the unbeaten Vessem.

This year sees the debut crop of the two-time NZ Age Group Champion Ultimate Machete race and the stallion is already the sire of the stakes performed Ultimate Racy Girl, smart WA filly Bazaar Package and the recent impressive qualifier One Life.

Ultimate Machete will be available to New Zealand breeders in 2023.

One of Australasiaʻs best supported stallions over the past three seasons, Captain Crunch saw this translate into impressive yearling sales results earlier this year, with his first crop selling up to $220,000 and topping multiple Southern Hemisphere yearling sales.

The 2020 New Zealand Horse of the Year Ultimate Sniper rounds out the stallion line-up, standing his third season.
