Egret became the latest Breeders Crown winner, and $100,000 earner, for Father Patrick when she proved too good for her rivals in the Group 1 Breeders Crown 3YO Trotting Fillies Final at Tabcorp Park Melton on Saturday evening.

The Anton Golino trained filly blasted off the gate to take the early lead before handing up to Victoria Trotting Oaks placegetter Revelstoke with 1700m to go.

Full of running approaching the home turn, Egret charged through on the passing lane and sprinted clear to win by three and a half lengths from Lindys Love, rating a swift 1:57.4 for the 2,240m trip – the fastest time by a trotter on the night.

It was Egret’s second Group 1 of the season, with the filly having earlier taken the Trot NSW 3YO Final at Tabcorp Park Menangle.

She has now won five races and $108,750 in stakes earnings.

Bred by Angela Morris, Egret is out of the Victoria Trotting Oaks placed CR Commando mare Moyabamba and is raced by Morris and Yabby Dam Farms.

With his oldest Southern Hemisphere crop currently 4-year-olds in 2022, Father Patrick has now sired four Breeders Crown winners in Sangreal, Just A Bit Touchy, Mufasa Metro and Egret.
