The classy Father Patrick filly Egret timed her run to perfection in the $50,000 Group 1 Trot NSW 3YO Final (1,609m) at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Saturday evening, downing the NSW Oaks winner Tough Love in the last stride.

The lightly raced Anton Golino trained filly began brilliantly from barrier six to hit the front before handing up and settling three back on the rail.

Edged out at the 400m mark, Egret stormed home to reel in the short priced favourite Tough Love and score by a head at the line in a slick 1:56.3 mile rate, with the last quarter trotted in 27.8.

A Breeders Crown finalist last season, Egret is unbeaten as a three-year-old this year and is now the winner of three races and $43,150 in stakes earnings.

Bred by Angela Morris, she is out of the 15-win CR Commando mare Moyabamba, the 2011 Victoria Oaks runner-up.

She is the fifth Australasian Group 1 winner and 14th Southern Hemisphere stakes performer to date for her sire Father Patrick, who has an incredible strike rate of over 25% stakes performers to starters down-under.
