High Step is the latest juvenile stakes winner for boom trotting stallion Father Patrick, with the Mark and Nathan Purdon trained filly in a class of her in the Group 2 Redwood Classic at Maryborough on Sunday.

Capping off a successful Australian campaign, High Step stepped cleanly from the stand to lead throughout in the $50,000 2-year-old feature and was simply too good for her rivals, winning by eight metres.

It was her fourth win from five Australian starts and boosted her earnings to $59,075.

Out of the Muscles Yankee mare High Gait, who won the Redwood Classic herself back in 2015, High Step is a full sister to the Group 1 winner and 2022 NZ 2YO Trotting Filly of the Year High Energy.

The past two seasons have seen a slew of impressive two and three-year old performers for Father Patrick with Confessional, High Energy, High Step, Isolate, Valerie Lane, Egret, Paramount Kiwi and Show No Fear all either stakes race or Listed winners, while the likes of The Ivy League, Aldebaran Miley, Gold Bullion, Basilica, Halberg and Lil Whip were Group or Listed placed.
