Amigo Volo, by Father Patrick, was a dominant, wire-to-wire winner of the $789,474 Breeders Crown Final for 2-year-old trotting colts and geldings at Woodbine Mohawk Park on October 25 (Canadian time).

Rebounding from a mid-race break in last week’s elimination, the dual Lexington stakes winner charged to the lead from the gate and proceeded to run his rivals ragged through a record breaking 55.6 first half.

With a healthy lead over the field throughout, the result never looked in doubt at any stage of the race, with the Dexter Dunn driven gelding jogging to the line four and a quarter lengths clear of his nearest rival, Rome Pays Off, in a time of 1:54.6.

The Nifty Norman trained gelding has now won five of his ten race starts and earned $609,433 in stakes.

A $42,000 Lexington Select purchase, Amigo Volo is out of the $600,000 plus earning Yankee Glide mare Margarita Momma.

It was a successful Breeders Crown carnival overall for second season sire Father Patrick, with the stallion also producing the runner-up in the 2YO Fillies Final (Sister Sledge $486,680) and the second and third place-getters in the 3YO Colts and Geldings Final (Greenshoe $1,387,376; Soul Strong $313,681).
