Father Patrick pair too good in 2YO Breeders Crown eliminations

2-year-old's by Father Patrick were to the fore in the Breeders Crown eliminations at Woodbine Mohawk Park over the weekend, taking out two of the three heats for freshman trotters.

The well performed Ron Burke trained filly Sister Sledge was a dominant victor in the first of the fillies eliminations, comfortably downing the previously unbeaten Hypnotic AM in a career best time of 1:53.2. Watch replay.

It was the eighth win from just 10 starts for the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes champion, taking her earnings to $308,852.

A $35,000 Harrisburg purchase, Sister Sledge is out of the $580,000 earning Andover Hall mare Behindclosedoors, who finished second in a Breeders Crown Final at three.

Sister Sledge is joined in the C$600,000 Final this weekend by fellow Father Patrick fillies Shishito and Madame Sherry.

The Per Engblom trained Champlain Stakes winner Synergy proved the best in the sole elimination for 2-year-old colts and geldings, trotting flawlessly in a mistake marred race to win by a margin of half a length at the line.

It was the fourth win of the year for Synergy and took his stakes-earnings to $162,796.

Out of a Muscles Yankee full sister to the former Canadian 2YO Trotting Colt of the Year, Federal Flex, Synergy was a $275,000 purchase at the 2018 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale.

Bluegrass and International Stallion Stakes winner Amigo Volo also advanced to the Final.
