Yearlings by Father Patrick were keenly sought after at the Auckland session of the NZB National Yearling Sale with his progeny selling for up to $145,000 and averaging $65,917 for six lots sold.

The top trotting lot, and the fourth highest priced yearling overall at $145,000, was a terrific looking Father Patrick colt (pictured) out of the 2018 NZ Trotting Derby winner Luby Lou.

Consigned by Breckon Bloodstock, the colt was purchased by Barry Purdon and Scott Phelan Racing Stables.

Another Father Patrick colt from the Breckon draft also made six figures, with Barry Purdon and Scott Phelan Racing Stables again going to $120,000 to secure a full brother to the unbeaten 2022 Group 1 winning 2-year-old High Energy.

Father Patrick finished the sale as the leading trotting sire by average and the third leading stallion overall.

Yesterday’s strong results come off the back of an outstanding 2022 season for the sire in which he finished as New Zealand’s leading sire of 2YO trotters and his progeny swept all of the country’s juvenile trotting Group races.
