Taking The Miki became Always B Miki’s first Australasian stakes race winner with a stunning victory in the Group 2 APG Gold Bullion Final for 2-year-old fillies at Gloucester Park on Friday night.

Pulled to the outside approaching the home turn Taking The Miki exploded clear of the field in the straight, striding strongly to the line to win by almost seven lengths. Watch replay.

Her winning time of 1:54.2 was the fastest ever by a 2-year-old filly at Gloucester Park.

Bred by Patrician Park, Taking The Miki is out of the winning Bettor’s Delight mare All American Dream and was a $26,000 purchase at last year’s Perth APG Yearling Sale.

Across the Tasman in New Zealand Always B Miki was represented by his first South Island winner when Franco Indie won very impressively on debut against the older horses at Rangiora on Sunday.
