The first Southern Hemisphere bred 2-year-olds by Always B Miki have begun to step out at the work outs and trials over the past week in New Zealand and Australia, with a number of impressive winners to date.

In New Zealand, the Graeme Rogerson trained I’llavabubbles put in a professional performance to win a 2YO Fillies Learners Pace at Pukekohe Raceway on January 15, with the youngster leading for the majority of the mile trip before fighting back determinedly when headed in the straight to win by a neck.

A $16,000 purchase at last year’s NZ Bloodstock Auckland Yearling Sale, I’llavabubbles is out of the unraced Bettor’s Delight mare Delightful Dale, making her a half to the  2016 NZ Derby place-getter Shandale.

Across the Tasman,  Always B Miki has been represented by the 2-year-old trial winners The Miki Taker, who was a winner at Pinjarra in 1:58.8 on January 13, and Paul Edward, a winner at Byford on the 17th.

The Miki Taker is out of the race winning Art Major mare Topless Beach Girl, whilst Paul Edward is out of the winning Golden Greek mare Like A Dame, making him a half to the millionaire pacer David Hercules.
