As expected, the superstar Father Patrick colt Greenshoe proved far too good for his rivals in today’s $250,000 Kentucky Sire Stakes Final for 3YO Trotting Colts and Geldings at The Red Mile.

The Marcus Melander protégé took control of the race by the half way mark and from then on it was little more than a procession, with the brilliant square-gaiter coasting to an effortless two length win over Chin Chin Hall and Super Schissel, who was a further two lengths back.

Greenshoe’s winning time of 1:50.6 was the fifth time this year that the colt had recorded a sub 1:51 victory – a feat unprecedented by a 3-year-old trotter. For perspective the great Muscle Hill won just once in better than 1:51, whilst the reigning world champion Six Pack recorded three sub 1:51 victories in his Dan Patch Award winning season last year.

It was the son of Father Patrick’s eighth win of the season and took his earnings this year alone to $891,500 – making him the richest trotter in North America in 2019.

His overall record stands at 10 wins and $968,223 in stakes-earnings.

The $330,000 Lexington Select graduate is out of the multiple world champion Donato Hanover mare Designed To Be.

It was also announced last week that Greenshoe will stand at stud at the prestigious Hanover Shoe Farms in 2020, with the company’s Executive Vice President Dr. Bridgette Jablonsky glowing in her praise of the young trotter... “To me, he is the horse of a generation. He can do things that I haven’t seen other horses do. His acceleration is magical and his gait is a thing of beauty.
