The Marcus Melander trained Father Patrick colt Greenshoe was a class above his rivals in the second of the $153,000 Stanley Dancer Memorial divisions for 3-year-old trotting colts and geldings at The Meadowlands on Saturday (US time), coasting to a comfortable win in near track record time.

Settling in third spot early on from his outside barrier draw, Greenshoe made his move at the half way point, looming up outside the previously unbeaten Pilot Discretion before getting the better of that colt mid-stretch and breezing on by to take an untouched, three and a three-quarters length victory in a stunning 1:50.2 clocking. His time was just one fifth of a second outside of Six Pack’s track record for a 3-year-old trotting colt and bettered his sire’s 3-year-old mark by the same amount.

The multiple New Jersey Sire Stakes champion has now won six of his nine lifetime starts and banked $403,223 in stakes.

Greenshoe is both the fastest and richest 3-year-old trotter in North America this year.

A $330,000 Lexington Select purchase, Greenshoe is out of the multiple world champion Designed To Be, a $600,000 plus earning daughter of Donato Hanover.
