Muscle Mass gelding Heavyweight Hero broke the New Zealand 2600m mobile start record for trotting geldings and entires when impressively taking out the Basil Dean FFA Mobile Trot at Addington Raceway on Friday.

Having finished second to last season's Inter Dominion runner-up Majestic Man at his last start, Heavyweight Hero turned the tables this time round, enjoying the sit behind the Phil Williamson trained square-gaiter before coming off his back in the straight and trotting home powerfully to score by an ever increasing two and three-quarter lengths at the line.

Heavyweight Hero’s winning time of 3:12.3 sliced 0.3 seconds off Eyre I Come’s 2017 record and was just 0.3 seconds outside Harriet Of Mot’s all-comers national record for the distance.

The former 2YO Harness Jewels runner-up has now won nine of his lifetime starts and $133,862 in stakes-money.

Bred by Gael Murray, Heavyweight Hero is out of the unraced Sundon mare Successor, a full sister to the multiple Group One placed Running On Time.
