Jujubee continued his domination of the 3-year-old North American trotting ranks with an authoritative win in the $650,000 Breeders Crown Final at the Meadowlands on Saturday afternoon.

Taking luck out of the equation, the $62,500 supplemental entry and reinsman Andrew McCarthy blasted off the gate to take the lead through a blazing 26.4 opening quarter.

With no pressure applied through the middle stages, the powerful son of Creatine was able to take a breather before putting two lengths on the field down the back straight.

He was then able to keep them at bay in the straight as the challengers came for him,  digging in to score by a length from the fast finishing Father Patrick gelding Fly Light and the Canadian Trotting Classic runner-up In Range.

His winning time of 1:51.4 was a new stakes record for the race, bettering Father Patrick and Bar Hopping’s jointly held record by 0.4 of a second.

Having only made his debut in October last year, Jujubee is now the winner of 16 races and $961,857 in stakes-money.

He is also the richest male trotter of 2021, with seasonal earnings of $948,791.

Despite not being staked to the major Grand Circuit races, Jujubee has put together an outstanding resume that also includes feature wins in the Kentucky Futurity (after being supplemented in to), PASS Championship Final, the Phil Langley Memorial and the Muscle Hill, along with becoming the first ever 3-year-old colt to record two sub 1:50 trotting wins.

He looks a strong chance to take the end of year divisional honours, with the only other trotter likely in contention for US 3YO Trotting Colt of the Year, the Hambletonian winner Captain Corey.

From the debut crop of Creatine, Jujubee is out of the winning Cantab Hall mare La Cantera.
