Lazarus colt Voukefalas has stamped himself as a leading contender for next monthʻs North America Cup with a devastatingly easy win in the $240,000 New Jersey Sires Stakes Final for 3-year-old colts and geldings at The Meadowlands over the weekend.

The Mike Russo trained pacer was in front by the quarter pole marker before briefly yielding the lead to the 2022 Breeders Crown elimination winner Handlelikeaporsche.

Not content to sit in the trail reinsman Jordan Stratton soon had Voukefalas back on top, with the colt drawing more than two lengths clear of the field by the three quarters and then extending his lead untouched in the straight to score by five lengths in a career best time of 1:49.8.

The son of Lazarus remains perfect in 2023, with three wins from three starts to date this year.

His overall record stands at six wins and three placings from 10 starts with stakes earnings of $391,088.

A homebred for New Jerseyʻs Michael Pagonas, Voukefalas is out of the Cams Fortune mare Inittowinafortune, a winner of 38 races and just under $700,000 in stakes.
